Leviticus was in nearly every aspect the perfect child, he started sleeping through most of the night at a couple days old. He loved affection, but never complained when he didn't get it.
Not that it would be a problem if he did, because someone was always holding. Rain was taking her responsibilities as Watcher-mother very seriously and was here almost daily.
If Rain wasn't here Luciano was, he had decided to play a very active part in raising his son. It was due to this they we managed to regain a friendship. Leviticus was most happy when his father was around and in the rare occasions when Vincenzo did come around, Leviticus wouldn't stop screaming.
"You love Aunt Rain she's your favorite person in the whole wide world," I could hear Rain telling Leviticus and she cuddled him.
I smiled even if it did distract me from my work.
"Apart from your Mema of course," Rain corrected winking in me as I turned around in my chair. "Mema sounds like I'm a grandmother," I complained to Rain for what seemed like the hundredth time. Rain just shook her head holding Leviticus up, "No Mema's silly, I called my Mema that."
I rolled my eyes still smiling, "Of course you did."
Opening up my emails I sighed wondering how I had been a mother for only seven months and it felt like years. A email from Vincenzo caught my eye it was an invite to a party that normally I would have refused but I hadn’t been out and done something fun for over a year.
"Hey is his formula in here?" Rain called open the fridge.
"Aha, um would you mind babysitting tomorrow night?" I asked casually hoping that I could tell a convincing lie.
I heard a gasp from Rain and I couldn't blame her, it was the first time I had asked. "Well sure, where's Mema going?" she asked as I sent a yes through the email and closed my computer.
"Um meeting a guy from the dating website, I figure it's time to get out there," I lied regretting my choice I should of said it was a young mother's group.
Rain considered and then nodded, "Sure sounds great," she told me.
I smiled, hardly believing she had expected my lie. A sound behind me introduced Luciano as strolled through the door, as if it was his house like he always done.
Rain passed Leviticus over instinctively without thought, "I'm taking him out," he informed me.
It wasn't even a question, like it didn't matter he was my son. "Where?" I questioned him.
"Its unimportant," Luciano told me, brushing off the question.
"You can't just take him without telling me where you're going," I argued surprised at myself. However when it came to me I could take it, but this was my son.
"Rainflower will be coming, there's nothing to worry about," he said to me and his tone told me he wasn't budging.
I wanted to fight more, but something told me I shouldn't.
"Fine, just don't be gone long," I caved.
Taking Leviticus in my hands I gave him a kiss on the forehead, "Stay safe, darling," I whispered.
Leviticus let out a whimper when I passed him over again, "Its fine Padre won't keep you away from Mamma long," Luciano promised, cuddling his son.
It seemed so weird to see the words come out of such a famous man's mouth, I shook the thought away. Luciano and Rain left leaving me alone, with nothing to do. Grudgingly I made my way out to the garden to begin work on it, realizing now I was actually happy to have some time to myself.
"Why don't you have any other dresses?" Rain asked me ransacking me drawers.
I shrugged, "You've never had a problem with that one before," I commented, it was the night of the baby and Rain thought she was getting me ready for my "date". Luciano had brought Leviticus back a two hours later yesterday and it hadn't seemed if it had hurt him.
"Really, Larni this is the dress that was all over the news when Luciano you know got you pregnant," Rain explained, causing me to blush, "do you really want to wear it to a date?"
"He won't even remember, he's a guy," I protested, grabbing the dress from Rain's hands.
Rain looked prepared to fight it but the sound of Leviticus cries held her tongue, "Fine," she snapped, leaving to get Leviticus.
I smile getting myself dressed, careful not to mess up my hair, I make my way to where Rain is holding Leviticus knowing the taxi will arrive soon.
"Mema has to go for a while, but I love you," I whispered to Leviticus, cuddling him.
Rain smirks at my use of Mema but I didn't want my son to be confused if I added a third name to the last. As I hear the taxi beep I turned to face Rain, "Don't invite Luciano over," I ordered.
"But," Rain started to protest.
"Just don't," I repeat making my way out the door. My stomach is in butterflies as the taxi arrives at the club, it doesn't look deserted but still it worries me.
"Larnika, you made it," Vincenzo voice carries over to me, where he stands at the door waiting.
"I needed to get out," I replied smiling.
Vincenzo looked me over, "Beautiful as always," he remarked taking my hand.
As we make our way in, I study all the people and I notice them give a slight nod of the head to Vincenzo, it was a different kind of respect to Luciano's followers but I knew everyone here would jump at the sound of Vincenzo's voice. I wrinkled my nose, when I recognized someone.
"What's wrong?" Vincenzo inquired.
"Oh just that man was a bit not nice," I finally settled on, nodding my head over to the man who had talked to me on my first night here.
Vincenzo smiled, "Is that so? I'll be back soon, go get a drink and Larnika tell the bartender who you are," he told me and I nodded making my way over to the bar.
"I'm Larnika," I introduced myself.
The bartender smiled, "That means you're getting the special," he smiled making me a drink and handing it to me.
The rest of the night passed in a blur without me having any memory of what happened,
the next thing I remember is waking up to the sound of two familiar voices.
"You have to punish him," the voice of Rain hissed angrily.
"Rainflower, why would I do such a thing? It will only in the end bring us closer to our goal," Luciano replied.
"Try she's a person," Rain snapped in response.
A silence followed, "Rainflower, you're getting soft. Next time you wish to speak against me don't," Luciano said to her, his voice cold.
I moved a tiny bit to my side and my head exploded I opened my eyes in pain, but only saw Luciano there, how had Rain left so soon?
"Are you alright?" he asked concern coming through in his voice.
"No my head is killing me," I whimpered sitting up in bed, "what happened?" I asked remembering my memories from last night were non-existent.
"I think you may have been drugged, Vincenzo called Rain telling us your left the party with someone," Luciano explained.
My head was swirling through the pain, who the hell had drugged me?
"Leviticus," I gasped.
"Is fine," Luciano assured me.
I got up wanting to go see him, stopped when the pain in my head worsened, bringing me to the ground. Luciano sat beside me, pulling me closer to him and the tears that had been holding themselves back burst forth. "Its okay Larnika," Luciano comforted me as I continued to cry.
